On the occasion of Easter and Easter Monday 2025, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park warmly welcomes visitors to experience an unforgettable journey through archaeology, culture, and the daily life of ancient Rome. The site will be open on Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21, offering a unique opportunity to discover newly curated thematic exhibitions and recently reopened spaces within one of the world’s most remarkably preserved Roman cities.
Two special exhibitions are the highlights of this holiday experience. At Villa Campolieto, a captivating display explores the dietary habits of ancient Herculaneum, guiding visitors through ingredients, tools, and customs that shaped Roman culinary culture. The exhibit unveils a world where food was more than sustenance—it was ritual, identity, and social connection. Meanwhile, at the Park’s Antiquarium, an extraordinary showcase of wooden artifacts preserved from the eruption of 79 AD reveals doors, furniture, and everyday objects miraculously protected by volcanic material. This is a rare and moving glimpse into the craftsmanship and domestic life of the Roman era.
Visitors can also celebrate the return—after more than two decades—of the House of the Tuscan Colonnade and the House of the Wooden Shrine, now reopened and fully restored. Additionally, the Shrine of the Augustales presents a newly redesigned custodian’s room, offering insights into the imperial cult and religious practices of Roman society.
To enhance the experience, the Park has launched “Herculaneum Digital”, a brand-new mobile app available for free download on major stores. The app provides multilingual themed itineraries in nine languages, complete with maps, multimedia content, and audio guides, making the visit even more engaging, inclusive, and interactive.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park continues to be one of the most fascinating cultural destinations in the world. During this Easter season, it invites everyone to discover its ancient streets, stunning frescoes, and timeless stories.
