The Campania Aerospace District (DAC) and the Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) will play a key role at EXPO Ferroviaria 2025 (September 30 – October 2, Fiera Milano Rho), showcasing how aerospace technologies can shape the future of railway safety and sustainable mobility. Sixteen DAC member companies will also take part, highlighting Campania’s excellence in technological innovation and the strong link between the aerospace and railway industries.
At the core of the mission is MERCURIO (Intelligent Monitoring and Multi-Platform System for Railway Infrastructure Safety), which will be officially presented on Wednesday, October 1 at 3:00 PM at Forum 2, Hall 11. Speakers include Luigi Carrino (President DAC), Umberto De Gregorio (President EAV), Paolo Bellomia (Senior Manager DAC), and Pasquale Rovito (Head of Innovation & Research, EAV).

MERCURIO demonstrates how satellite data, digital platforms, and intelligent systems can significantly enhance the monitoring, safety, and reliability of railway infrastructures. “Aerospace research generates frontier technologies that can be applied to the railway sector – explains Luigi Carrino –. With MERCURIO, we show how aerospace know-how can be transformed into advanced tools for safety and sustainable mobility.”
The DAC program at EXPO Ferroviaria also features innovative solutions from its member companies. On Tuesday, September 30, Unmanned4you will unveil Skywash, a cutting-edge drone-based cleaning and maintenance system, while Medinok will present Subset-093 QoS Requirements Measurement for GSM-R networks. On Wednesday, October 1, Mare Group will showcase the SAX system and the SYPLA RAIL platform for predictive maintenance of rolling stock and infrastructures.
Highlights also include strategic meetings and agreements, such as the signing of the Meditel–Trenord partnership (October 1, 2:30 PM) and the talk with Paolo Ronchi from Stadler (October 2, 10:30 AM).
Through its participation at EXPO Ferroviaria 2025, DAC confirms its role as a driver of innovation and technology transfer, proving how aerospace expertise can become a strategic asset for the railway industry. A true bridge between space and rail, paving the way for safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility.
