From May 20 to 24, 2025, Naples will turn into a vibrant open-air stage for the 17th edition of Wine&Thecity, the event that blends wine with urban culture through a journey of sensory and social experiences. Conceived in 2008 by Donatella Bernabò Silorata, this now-iconic festival brings together elegance, discovery, and social commitment. Over 100 wineries from all over Italy, immersive performances, exclusive site visits and gourmet encounters will animate neighborhoods, courtyards, rooftops, and vineyards for five days.
The event kicks off on May 20 at the former Ravaschieri Hospital, now home to the Fondazione Santobono-Pausilipon, with an exclusive evening of tastings, music and solidarity. Wines from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Vesuvio will accompany dishes created by chef Gianluca D’Agostino, featuring premium products by Ciro Amodio 1825, Panificio Moccia, Mulino Caputo, and master pastry chefs Salvatore Capparelli and Pasquale Pesce. Music will be provided by Blue Mood Duo and Dj Cerchietto. The evening supports the Foundation’s initiatives through a €50 ticket.
At the heart of the 2025 edition is Happy Wine a Chiaia, on May 22 — a moving celebration through the fashionable Chiaia district. From 5 PM to 9 PM, 47 venues — from boutiques and galleries to restaurants and showrooms — will come alive with dj sets, cooking shows, art and design exhibitions, and guided wine tastings. From the iconic Ricciardi boutique in Piazza Amedeo, with wines from Casa Setaro, to Engel & Völkers, Sisimbro Luxury, Le Zirre Napoli, Studio Rog, Cariño Nikkei, Casa Vittoria, the flagship store Prezioso Casa and the elegant showroom of E. Marinella — each stop is a micro-event mixing craftsmanship, design and top-tier wines. The district becomes a vibrant celebration of Italian creativity and winemaking.
On May 21, the restaurant Essencia hosts a special tasting with wines from Cantine I Favati; on May 23, the panoramic rooftop of the Grand Hotel Oriente welcomes Casale del Giglio, while the Hotel Continental showcases Sorrentino Vesuvio wines. On the morning of May 24, Wine&Thecity enters the Rione Sanità district with a guided visit to Santa Maria della Vita, home of the Centro La Tenda. Guests will explore its hidden cloisters and gardens, taste the signature “pizza nel ruoto” by Ciro Oliva, enjoy Kombucha by Wild Ferment, hear expert notes from Ais Campania, and end with desserts by Francesco Lastra. The €25 ticket supports the preservation of the site.
The grand finale takes place at sunset on May 24 among the vineyards on Lake Averno, a legendary spot in the Phlegraean Fields. Guests will embark on an archaeological walk through the ancient “Temple of Apollo”, then dine al fresco among the vines of Cantine dell’Averno. The menu will celebrate regional flavors from land and sea, paired with Mirabella family wines, Moccia breads, and artisanal vinegars from Andrea Milano. Dessert is a spring-inspired creation by pastry chef Angelo Tramontano, offered by Mulino Caputo.
Wine&Thecity is an independent project of the Wine&Thecity Association, realized exclusively with the support of private sponsors such as Acetificio Andrea Milano, Mulino Caputo, Ciro Amodio 1825, and Panificio Moccia. The all-female team leads a movement that disrupts stereotypes and uses wine as a cultural, social and aesthetic vehicle, rediscovering hidden corners of the city and opening doors to otherwise inaccessible sites.
