La Mortella Gardens in Ischia will once again blend natural beauty and musical excellence during the 2025 Easter weekend. On Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, the Spring Musical Encounters organized by the William Walton Foundation will feature the brilliant young pianist Mikhail Kambarov in two exclusive concerts. Born in 2000, Kambarov began his studies at the Balakirev College in Nizhny Novgorod and made his orchestral debut at the remarkable age of eight. He is currently perfecting his craft at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar, Germany. A rising star in the international classical music scene, he has won several prestigious piano competitions, including the International Piano Competition Fribourg, Chopin Competition in Estonia, Wiesbaden International Piano Competition, and the Scriabin International Piano Competition in Grosseto.
Alongside his solo career, Kambarov is an avid chamber musician. With the Trio Fulminato, he has garnered multiple international prizes and toured the United States. He has also recorded performances for major German broadcasters and is a recipient of several top-level scholarships.
For his Ischia debut, Mikhail Kambarov will present a program of exceptional musical and technical depth, headlined by Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 57 “Appassionata”, composed in 1805 and widely regarded as one of the composer’s most profound and powerful works. The recital will be held at 5:00 PM in the evocative Recital Hall within the gardens.
In addition to this musical highlight, La Mortella Gardens will offer a special Easter Monday opening on April 21, inviting visitors to enjoy the full splendor of springtime blooms. It’s an ideal opportunity for tourists and locals alike to experience the unique harmony of music and nature that defines this magical place.
More special openings are already planned: Friday, April 25 for Italy’s Liberation Day, and Friday, May 2 for the May Day weekend. These extended openings allow more visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty and cultural richness of one of Italy’s most beloved botanical and musical landmarks.
