Altair and DAC – Campania Aerospace Technology District are strengthening a strategic partnership with a broad vision for the entire Italian and European aerospace sector. The new agreement builds upon the collaboration launched in 2023 and aims to promote the digital transition of SMEs and startups, offering them easy access to the most advanced simulation, data analysis, and artificial intelligence technologies.
Altair, a global leader in computational science, and DAC, a recognized center of excellence for aerospace innovation in Southern Italy, share a vision: to guide businesses toward a more integrated, sustainable, and competitive technological ecosystem. In a sector increasingly driven by digital innovation, the ability of small industrial players to adopt advanced tools marks the difference between mere survival and global leadership.

“Altair is committed to democratizing access to high-level digital technologies, ensuring that even the smallest innovators in the aerospace sector can compete globally,” said Pietro Cervellera, Senior Vice President Aerospace and Defense at Altair. “By supporting the digital evolution of startups and SMEs, we help build a more agile, integrated, and competitive supply chain – not just in Campania, but across Italy and Europe.”
“The collaboration with Altair Engineering,” emphasized Luigi Carrino, President of DAC, “represents a strategic action aligned with our vision of developing the supply chain: guiding SMEs and startups toward an advanced production model based on the systemic adoption of digital tools and integration with research. Through this partnership, we offer our member companies not only facilitated access to high-level simulation and data analysis technologies, but also training programs and concrete opportunities for technological acceleration and growth – comparable to the capabilities of large enterprises. It is a key step in strengthening their competitiveness and consolidating the Campania aerospace supply chain in the international context.”
The program includes discounted rates for using Altair platforms, while startups receive free access for the first year and may later join the Aerospace Startup Acceleration Program (ASAP). It’s a tangible opportunity to enhance technological capabilities, reduce the digital divide, and reinforce the continuity of the aerospace supply chain.
In the broader European context, where resilience and technological autonomy are strategic goals, this initiative carries not only industrial value but also political significance. With over 170 members – including 32 large companies, 15 research centers and universities, and 123 SMEs – the DAC represents an advanced model of industry-research integration. Its activities span from commercial and general aviation to space systems and launchers, as well as aeronautical maintenance and transformation.
Altair, now part of Siemens Digital Industries Software, continues to invest in collaborative innovation, choosing Campania as a hub of excellence. Southern Italy becomes the protagonist of a new industrial era, driven by digitalization, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
