From January 19 to March 1, 2026, Naples International Airport (Capodichino) will temporarily shut down due to major runway renovation works, as part of the 2023–2026 four-year maintenance plan. The intervention, previously communicated to relevant institutions, aims to uphold the highest safety standards required by both national and international aviation regulations.
The closure, lasting 42 days, was deliberately scheduled during a low-traffic season to minimize inconvenience for passengers and airlines. Throughout this period, all airlines operating at the Naples hub will adjust their flight schedules, reorganizing routes and frequencies according to their commercial and operational strategies.
A crucial role will be played by the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi Airport, which is positioned as a strategic infrastructure supporting the entire Campania region. In line with a regional airport system approach, Salerno will accommodate part of the air traffic usually handled by Naples, within the capacity limits set by ENAC and according to the allocation of available slots. This coordinated approach between airports demonstrates the strength of Campania’s infrastructural governance and the success of integrated transport planning.
GESAC SpA, the airport operator, through its Corporate Communications & Media Relations Office led by Flavia Scandone and Andrea Del Gaudio, will ensure full transparency and regular updates throughout the entire process, aiming to provide clear information to institutions, travelers, and stakeholders.
